The mission of tifwe.org “is to educate and inspire Christians to live out a Biblical theology that integrates faith, work, and economics. The Institute for Faith, Work & Economics (IFWE) is a Christian organization advancing a free and flourishing society by revolutionizing the way people view their work. We believe the Bible’s timeless truths about the purpose of our work and how to make wise decisions with all that we’ve been given. When Christians understand and live out the biblical meaning of work, then lives, societies, and nations will be transformed for Christ.”
This website is loaded with great content to encourage and inspire believers in all lines of work, inside and outside of the home. They want all Christians to find freedom, fulfillment, and to flourish in their daily 9-5.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8: 36
Freedom in our work comes from knowing what our gifts and talents are, and matching those things with what brings us satisfaction and delight. It is profoundly freeing to know that God can use us for his glory in any line of work, from stay-at-home parent to janitor to teacher to artist to CEO. There are no limits to the wondrous things that God can do when his children are rooted in him.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. Matthew 7:24-27
Fulfillment in our work (and in every area of our lives) comes from putting our worth in the hands of Jesus. We can truly be free to be fulfilled by our work when we do not look to it for our ultimate satisfaction. Build your house on the rock of Christ Jesus, and your fulfillment will be shatterproof.
The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11
Jesus doesn’t just want his followers to survive, he wants them to thrive. He wants his children to flourish. Are you flourishing in your work life? Or just getting by? If you are not flourishing, ask yourself why. How can you bloom where you’re planted and make the most of where you are right this moment?
